£ SPECIFIC™ FED-DM Endocrine Support contains fermentable fibres (FOS) to promote growth of beneficial colonic bacteria to maintain a healthy microbiome in diabetic cats. £ Due to its high protein level SPECIFIC™ FED-DM Endocrine Support is also perfectly suited for nutritional support of cats with reduced muscle mass. In cats with hyperthyroidism with poor muscle condition it does not only support lean body mass, but its low carbohydrate level also supports the reduced insulin sensitivity commonly found in cats with hyperthyroid cats. £ With most regimens for the management of diabetes mellitus, it is recommended that the daily ration be given in two meals. The tim ing of the meals will normally be determined by the activity of the insulin in the individual cat. £ It should be noted that cats with diabetes mellitus which are switched to SPECIFIC™ FED-DM Endocrine Support may have a reduced need for insulin. It is therefore recommended to monitor blood glucose levels, water intake, presence of clinical signs and insulin dose. £ Obesity and overweight are risk factors for diabetes mellitus. It is therefore recommended to maintain ideal body weight and/or to re duce body weight in overweight cats with diabetes mellitus. £ Once a cat achieved diabetic remission, it is recommended to con tinue to feed SPECIFIC™ FED-DM Endocrine Support in order to reduce the risk on relapse of diabetes mellitus.
