INGREDIENTS Rice, wheat, maize, fish oil, pork fat, potato protein, beet pulp, animal protein hydrolysate, egg powder, Antarctic krill, minerals, cellulose powder, yeast, fructo-oligo-saccharides, AuraGuard (calcium carbonate, citrus extract, maltodextrin, sodium chloride). With natural antioxidants (tocopherols, rosemary extract and vitamin C). Contains no added artificial colours or flavourings.

£ The restricted protein level reduces the urinary concentrations of oxalate, cystine and urate. Together with the alkaline urine pH, this discourages precipitation of urinary calcium oxalate, cys tine and urate crystals and supports a healthy urinary tract. Added potassium citrate helps keep calcium oxalate in solution.

£ L-carnitine and taurine have been added to the diet to support the heart muscle function.

NUTRIENT CONTENT

£ The diet has high levels of water soluble vitamins in order to compensate for increased urinary losses caused by the use of diu retics in heart patients. £ SPECIFIC TM CKD Heart & Kidney Support contains zeolite , which can bind ammonium and thereby help reduce uremia in dogs with renal failure and hyperammonaemia in dogs with liver failure. £ Zinc is a cofactor in the enzymatic conversion of ammonia to urea and can reduce catabolism of protein in muscles. The increased level of zinc in SPECIFIC TM CKD Heart & Kidney Support can contri bute to the reduction of hyperammonaemia in liver patients. £ The copper content in SPECIFIC TM CKD Heart & Kidney Support is moderately reduced because copper excretion may be compro mised in patients with liver diseases. £ The exceptional palatability of SPECIFIC TM CKD Heart & Kidney Support maximises the chance of the nutritional requirements being met, even if the patient has a poor appetite. £ SPECIFIC TM CKD Heart & Kidney Support is specially packed under a protected atmosphere to protect the uniquely high level of EPA and DHA in the product.
